Discovered this box at the bottom of a BT pole (was doing some strimming around a shed). Looks like some kind of connector feed to FTTP - there are 2 cables going into the ground and 1 going up the pole. This is in an open field where combine harvesters, tractors, you name it roll past a few feet away. Firstly, what is it and secondly, is this acceptable practice to have it positioned where it is? Do I need to contact OpenReach? Thanks.
Nothing to do with FTTP. It’s a Large Cap End UCJ, Universal Clip Joint and is used for Copper Joints only.
I’d hazard a guess it was cable tied to the Pole, quite a common site in rural areas and has come loose or been taken off to be worked on and forgotten to be put back on.
I’d just report it to Openreach, someone will come a secure it back to the Pole.
Actually looking at the first pic it may have been in a JB23 that has collapsed, difficult to tell with all the foliage.
Either way I bet you that’s been like that for months if not years.
Thanks all. Will get on to OpenReach. Cheers.
