Worried about Internet cable/router placement for new fibre being installed in Dec

i have the homehub 5 router with normal broadband and its in my bedroom, i have a 20m rj11 internet cable from the filter next to the master socket to my homehub router in my bedroom, i have the router in my bedroom beacuse i have pc/xbox/tv/sky etc and there all connected easily with ethernet cables because there all in reach to the router in  my bedroom

now i'm having fibre installed in December and i'm worried incase they want to me have the new smarthub 2 router in the kitchen where the master socket is because i want to keep my router in my bedroom because of all the easy ethernet cables that reach to my devices in the one room my bedroom

so will i be able to have the new smarthub 2 in my bedroom? will the 20m rj11 cable work still from my kitchen to my bedroom with the new smarthub? or will it need to be a different cable? will i have to change it to a ethernet cable? if so i was thinking of buying a rj11 to rj45 adapter to save changing the 20m rj 11 cable that i have already or buying a new 20m ethernet cable ready in advance

i was told on the phone yesterday when i agreed to the fibre upgrade that the engineer wont leave my property until its all set up and working, so does that mean if i ask the engineer to set it all up for me and ask him to have the smarthub in my bedroom, will he do that? will he run a new cable for me from kitchen to bedroom if needed? or is it my job to sort out?

i was also told on the phone that i will get the new smarthub 2 one week early and i can set it up and connect it myself ready, he said it will work with my broadband until the engineer arrives, so i will be setting it up in my bedroom in advance, so when the engineer comes it will already be set up in my bedroom, i dont know if he will want to move it or not?

is there anything i should buy now in advance before the engineer comes to install the new fibre, any adapters or cables?

i'm just worried thats all or am i worrying for nothing and the engineer will sort it all out for me? 🙂

how does the existing openreach phone cable enter your home - from a pole outside or comes in underground?  if from a pole then the fibre cable will follow the existing cable to your home but there is no need for ONT to be same place at master socket.  you can discuss with fitter when they arrive

The ONT that replaces the master socket doesn't necessarily have to be installed in the same place as the master socket. If you don't mind the external wiring it may be possible to have it located in your bedroom, but that's something you'll have to agree on the day.

Openreach won't run cables from the ONT to your bedroom & the RJ11 cable will become redundant. There's not enough wires in the cable to convert to ethernet so you'll need an ethernet cable to replace it. They're cheap enough so buy another 20m to cover the worst case scenario on installation day.

I wouldn't bother setting up the SH2 in advance as the installer may want to reset it anyway.

First of all the location of your current master socket is irrelevant. The ONT doesn't need to be in the same location. You can negotiate location with the installer on the day but it will need to be adjacent to a mains socket.

The ONT and router don't have to be located together, they can be up to 100 metres apart but you will have to run a ny Ethernet cable yourself as the installer will expect to position the hub adjacent to the ONT and connect with a short patch cord.

You can't use your existing extension lead as it will only be 2 wires rather than the 8 needed for GbE .
