Just wondering if this story, which sounds like a very elaborate scam to me, is for real. Perhaps a mod could comment on BT's awareness of it and confirm it as real/fake?

this has been advertised for a while and not scam

my mobile shows it under settings/notifications/advanced settings/wireless emergency alerts

It's on the Gov.uk website too, definitely not fake. Other countries already have systems like this in place.
