retaining bt mobile number when switching to EE

Go to solution

hello

We have just received new SIM cards from EE but want to retain our current BT mobile numbers. When we said this to the BT person who persuaded us to take this package, he said "When you get the new sim cards, just phone up". But do we phone BT or EE?

Thanks

Terry

As you are an EE customer now you need to phone EE.   have you tried getting PAC code from BT and you should be able to enter the code when you activate your EE sim retain existing number

Hi @terry-freedman

When transferring from BT to EE, usually the number is also set to transfer too as part of the sales process. If so this will activate automatically once you make your first phone call from your EE SIM cards. The number will transfer over the following day.

If the number port has not been set up, you can easily arrange this yourself by taking the following steps:

1- Text PAC to 65075 from BT SIM

2- Text PORT to 150 from your new EE sim,
This will take you through 2 steps to submit your PAC Code and transfer your number.

You can find more information at Transfer your number to EE

Thanks very much. For now we've decided not to go ahead, but this will be very useful for when we do. Thanks!

Thanks, Ali_A

That's very helpful. Re: "usually the number is also set to transfer too as part of the sales process.". Yes, we discovered that this should have happened when we phoned EE to cancel, but it turned out that the BT person who sold us this package hadn't done it. I think when we do switch over, we'll specifically ask the person if they could do it, or have done it. Thanks again!

Cheers, L

You're welcome @terry-freedman

You'll find lots of benefit when you do move over to EE.

Have a very pleasant day.

@terry-freedman

We have a handy page with details of what we offer, why people choose EE and why we’ve been named the UK’s best mobile network for the 12th year running by the impartial network data experts at RootMetrics, that would be worth having a look through.

Probably irrelevant to the OP now ,  when I changed from BT to EE coming up two years ago (the change done via BT ) as far as I recall, all I had to do was insert the new SIM and make a call , not to any specific number , just a call ,  in the background this activity caused the temporary number on the SIM to be  changed to the number I had with BT , literally took a minute to accomplish , then incoming and outgoing calls had the appropriate number using the EE SIM .
