Changing from TalkTalkBB to BT BB

Go to solution

hi

yesterday I phoned bt to change my BB provider from TalkTalk to bt.

they said they couldn’t make the order as they were blocked from doing so as we’d organised to cancel the talktalk on 15June. The call handler advised us to go back to talktalk and cancel the cessation. Then phone BT back today and they would order the service for us.

we cancelled the cessation as advised and talktalk said it would take 24 hours and we would be able to switch provider.

when we phoned BT we had a different call handler who said we had to wait until after the 15 June!

We tried explaining what the BT call handler had said yesterday but he just kept saying we couldn’t order the bt BB until after the 15th of June!

what do we do?

thanks

The obvious thing to do is wait a few days for the hopefully now cancelled TT cease order to work its through the system, then (when it’s as though that cease order never existed) you can call BT and raise a migration order with BT , I suspect you have simply called too early in this process, even if TT responds immediately to your request to cancel the cessation you raised , it takes a while to ‘disappear’

The correct way to change ISP (as per OFCOM)  is not to notify existing ISP but to place order with  new ISP and everything moves from there.  Contacting existing ISP causes problems as you have discovered. Unless TT cancel there 15th June date there is nothing BT can do

You should use the One Touch Switching system.  You do not cancel anything or contact your present ISP. You select your new ISP then they do the rest.
