FTTP changes in my area

I have just had a house call from BRSK informing me that they are installing broadband FTTP in the area and that my BB may go off temporarily sometime in the next 5 weeks. I have already received emails offering BRSK service.

When will my area Birmingham Priory be converted to FTTP by Open Reach or do I have to move to BRSK.

Re: FTTP changes in my area

BRSK should not interfere with Openreach services , however temporary, they shouldn’t deliberately interfere with Openreach network, if they knock off your OR based service , report it to your current provider so that BRSK can be penalised for this.
BRSK are a company that take advantage of Openreach assets like poles, joint boxes, ducts etc under a policy called PIA ( physical infrastructure access ) to provide their own services, so their equipment is alongside Openreach equipment
You can check on Openreach website if your area is in any current plans for FTTP , you obviously only have to move to BRSK if you want to , there is no compulsion to move just because BRSK is available , a possible drawback of BRSK is that they are also the ISP , only BRSK use their network, you cannot swap suppliers as you can on Openreach
