Moving from talk talk to BT

Can BT move my mother from  TalkTalk? with out her having to sign in to her Talk Talk account.  When set up 3 years ago she put wrong email so can’t sign in to account and a year ago a new mobile number, and can’t use mobile number for codes to access account and to top it off forgotten Password.  I would like to start again with BT under my name. Can it be done?

Re: Moving from talk talk to BT

You simply sign up to BT , the OTS (one touch switching) system advises the old provider,  TT in your case that you intend to migrate to another provider ….you will know it’s happening as TT send you an impact statement outlining any charges etc  the switch will entail (if there any , like leaving inside a minimum term) , no need to log into your TT account to do any of this .

After 5 chats 2 phone calls and email. Wasted 8 hours and getting no where!

No idea who that’s aimed at , TT or BT but irrespective  switching provider is designed so you don’t need to communicate with the company you are leaving , just the company you want to join , calling and asking about logging into your account in regards to switching will no doubt  simply confuse the matter.

Ok thanks for that. I was hoping this would be the case.

sorry, chats and phone calls were a tried attempts to fix the problem to TT. 75 year old mother was just more and more flustered and kept getting things wrong

Re: Moving from talk talk to BT

If you are wanting the new BT Broadband account in your name I am not sure that using the One Touch Switching will be available to you.

You have said that the Talk Talk account is in your mother's  name so there may be a problem because it is not a straight forward move of one person, your mother, wanting to move to BT.

In your case when BT contact Talk Talk to tell them that you are wanting to move to BT, Talk Talk will have no record of you as their customer because obviously the Talk Talk account is not in your name.

I think you will need to contact BT to see if it is straight forward and if OTS can be used when the account owners (your mother) is not the same person as the "new" BT account owner (you).

It may be that your mother will need to cancel her Talk Talk account and then you can order a BT Broadband account in your name.
