New laptop causes login problems

I have just bought a new laptop, as the last one broke down suddenly! (due to age I think). Mostly it was a doddle to set up. But BT is not happy about it at all! Yesterday, having changed my email password. I've been getting messages 'shouting' at me, that there has been suspicious activity on my account! There hasn't, I've just been trying to use my new computer! I have changed my password two or three times now and each time, it looks as though this has been successful. However, when I try to login to BT for anything other than emails, I am told that this is the wrong email or password. It isn't, as I keep a record of all my passwords in a separate file. The only problem I can think of, is that this is a bad browser (Microsoft Edge). I never wanted to use Edge as I have used Google Chrome successfully for many years. However, when trying to install Chrome on this latest laptop, it tells me that it's been successful, but I can never find it afterwards! So maybe the PC isn't allowed to have Chrome on it? As it isn't anywhere when I search for it! So I have to use Edge, although I would really rather not have to! But why is it that I can only check emails, but cannot login to BT with it? And why is it that BT is constantly messaging me about 'Suspicious Activity' when it's only me trying to use my PC?

Re: New laptop causes login problems

Hey there @Susan27, welcome back to the BT Community.

Just to be sure here, is it the standard My BT login page that you're trying to do this from?

Where exactly are you seeing messages about suspicious activity too, is this an email we send, or a popup on the screen?

Chrome and Edge are both widely supported browsers and unlikely to cause you any trouble.

My only other thought would be if this is a work laptop where you're restricted on the kind of apps you can download.
