Reporting a probably scam call.

Here's a funny thing.  I had what I took to be a scam phone call.  I went to report it on the BT report-a-scam page.  That requires you to put in the phone number of the call.  I copied and pasted the number as it appeared in my Call Protect list of recent calls.  The report-a-scam page rejected it as not a valid number for my complaint.  So, weirdly, the report-a-scam page wouldn't accept as valid the very number that Call Protect recorded as the number from which my call came.

Re: Reporting a probably scam call.

Hi there @PaulBrownsey

Thanks for coming back to the community.

You would need to enter the number without spaces or brackets, for example +44500999123. If you could try and enter the number again without copy and pasting in this format to see if the report a scam call form accepts the number?

Thanks.

Leanne 🙂

I did that and still got the 'not valid' automatic response.

Re: Reporting a probably scam call.

No doubt because it was a spoofed number in an invalid format.

Reporting numbers is a futile exercise, scammers have a virtually infinite pool of numbers to use.

Basically, if you don't recognise a number, don't answer it.
