Shifting box in pathway

19656B7E-3B52-451C-8F22-32AF4FC1A897.jpeg

Hi all

i have a double drive but single dropped kerb that I want to extend.
there’s a BT distribution box buried into the path that will need moving to allow this, I’ve had a quote from a contractor to get the drive path sorted but he won’t touch the box.
talked to open reach and they have quoted a site survey (£342!) to go have a look before the quote to do the works.

I was hoping to just lower it to allow the slope onto the drive

will this cost me a fortune??

the survey was costly enough to make me think twice about the whole thing.

@danger8

This has nothing to do with BT Retail.

You need to contact Openreach, which I think you have done already.

https://www.openreach.com/building-developers-and-projects/altering-our-network

Its like to cost you thousands, possibly tens of thousand, for the network to be re-routed.

I would forget about it.

Re: Shifting box in pathway

Yeah the survey was from openreach.

would they be able to lower the box underneath without having to move the whole thing? I’m not looking for much, just enough for a bit of a slope

Sorry, I have no idea, but I think it highly unlikely, as there would be solid ducts entering the box from all directions, and they could not be moved.

Re: Shifting box in pathway

So, as of 2022 the cost of the 5 minute survey is £700 ,same price for small or large surveys, but get this, for open reach to do the work could be upto and over £4000 ,so on top of the contractor to drop kerb, not cheap.
