Hello, I have to convert to a Full Fibre broadband contract later this year as it's available in my area, have been informed that renewing my Fibre 2 contract is not allowed.
This means I will require a new Smart Hub 2, and have been informed there will be a £11.99 delivery cost.
I also require this for digital voice.
I notice on my old digital voice leaflet from last year that "Smart Hub 2 will be sent free of charge if required".
Can anyone confirm this charge is correct? Numerous people at BT today state it is correct, and new customers pay it also they tell me.
Thank you, Nicola
I think it depends.
I was moved to Digital Voice (DV) about 20 months ago but that was at BT's insistence, so they supplied a Smart Hub 2 (SH2) free of charge. I suspect that if you voluntarily recontract then they'll consider you instigated the change and so will charge for the SH2 delivery.
There are people on here who know more than I do when it comes to BT internal goings on. I'm sure if you wait long enough someone will reply with a better answer.
Call BT Billing on 0330.1234.150 and negotiate a new contract including the Smarthub2 free of charge and free delivery.
Check what other providers will offer you before calling BT and be prepared to move if they don't give you the deal you want.
Thanks for your reply, Nicola
Thanks for your advice, yes I don't intend to pay any charges for the equipment, Nicola
£11.99 may not be a lot of money but sometimes it's the principle of being charged for equipment which is the important factor surely?
