Why the product advertising with expired take up dates?

Around 02:45hrs on the 14th April TV advertising for a BT Broadband deal is offered with a take up date expiry of 13th April. Assuming BT are paying for this advertising is it not a waste of money? And if it is a waste of money would it not be better to 'waste' it by giving customers better pricing? After all BT seem to need some help being competitive nowadays per comparison sites, don't they?

Not the first time I've seen this advertising peculiarity...
