I'm not aware of any window as such, but if you log into MyBT you may already have renewal offers. If nothing there, just keep checking periodically. Although in my experience, they've always been more than I was currently paying.
But anecdotal evidence on these forums suggest that once BT have you in a Halo contract, it's nigh impossible to downgrade it.
