BT/EE switch a step backwards

We have been with BT for over 20 years with very few issues. We have two accounts with BT. One has switched to EE with no problems. The other account (GB ********) is still with BT for some reason and the service is awful. We still have two direct debits but one to EE and one to BT.

On the remaining BT account I use the broadband for my TV, laptop and mobile phone at home. TV is fine (so far) but phone keeps dropping out of home broadband at home meaning my data is getting used. I now have to turn data off at home and back on when going out. Previously on my laptop I turned it on, clicked Microsoft Edge and surfed away, now every time I have to log on and if on a while, have to log on several times. I am the generation that had to deal with dial-up years ago and remember waiting an age for pages to load up but now we have progressed so much further, it seems the change to EE is taking us backwards. I don't want to return to the internet of 20 years ago, just to the internet of last year. In addition speeds appear slower and access to some sites is now impossible on my laptop where before all was fine. I need broadband to work from home so am nervous about changing but the change over has without doubt made things more difficult. Contrary to BT and EE bleating about a great new partnership, my service is actually worse than before.

Re: BT/EE switch a step backwards

That's akin to claiming you switched from British gas to Scottish power for your gas but now regret the switch as Scottish power has inferior gas.

BT EE and Plusnet are exactly the same product.

I didn't switch, they switched me when they joined together and all I know is I had no problems beforehand with the same laptop and phone, clearly not the same gas.

Re: BT/EE switch a step backwards

Do you know have both the BT and EE routers operating and both putting out WiFi? If so they may be interfering with each other. If that's the case, you either need to turn one lot of WiFi off or change the channels used on one of the routers.

Re: BT/EE switch a step backwards

I still have my original BT router, the other account is running fine also on BT router, neither router can reach the other, hence the two accounts so I don't think that is the problem but it is a possibility, thanks for the advice mate.

Hi @jonboy062

Thanks for coming to the community.

Have you tried forgetting the WiFi network on both the laptop and mobile phone, restarting both devices and connecting back to your WiFi to see if this helps?

If you continue to experience connection problems, please get in touch with our broadband tech guides and they can get this investigated for you.

Thanks.

Leanne.

Re: BT/EE switch a step backwards

Thanks, I called BT today, appears my router needed updating as it was logging me into EE WiFi instead of BT, tech was very helpful, thanks for your message anyway.
