My 24 month BT contract for Halo1 and 700 minutes Calling Plan ends on the 22nd Sept. The online "deal" offered to me is much higher than what I currently pay. I have tries to call BT and hold on for 45 mins without success. What happens if I do not renew- the Halo 1 price promise says my contract price won't go up ( other than for RPI) - is that right? And what happens with the 700 minute calling plan? If they just roll over what is the point of the contract - as far as I can see there is no loyalty discount shown on my bill, so what is there to lose?
Would especially like to hear from members who have not renewed their contracts and/ or are telecoms experts. Thanks in anticipation!
Nothing happens, you just continue with your current package on a rolling contract. That is the benefit of halo.
If you do not renew your contract you just pay the package price price minus any discounts you may have been given with your present contract.
If you were not in receipt of any discount then it will be exactly the same price as now.
It is always worth trying to negotiate a new contract because you may be able to get a discount on the price of the package that you are presently on, especially if you do not already have any discount and even if you do you may still get a better deal.
@gg30340 Any discount you have also rolls over if you have halo.
Call packages aren't discounted anyway so just continue at the current price.
I'm currently out of contract and the retentions team wouldn't offer me a better deal than I currently have when I called last week. I will probably call again at some point.

I thought I had read in a previous post that the discounts stopped but I stand corrected.
