BT Halo 3 (hybrid connect now included ? )

I currently have full fibre 100 and I also pay separately for the BT hybrid connect. I have an offer on my account to upgrade to full fibre 500 with halo 3 (not 3+) it would actually work out slightly cheaper for me

My question is it's says "halo 3" now includes a hybrid connect does this work in exactly the same way as the hybrid I have now, as in I keep it permanently and kicks in when an issue happens.

I understand the halo 3 only used to include a 4g mini hub which was sent out when you contacted BT and once an issue was confirmed by them?

Re: BT Halo 3 (hybrid connect now included ? )

There doesn’t appear to have been any change to the BT Halo page to say Hybrid Connect is included with 3, only 3+.

A FTTP connection is also much more robust than a FTTC one, so there is a school of thought that the additional cost of a Hybrid Connect is unnecessary for a pure fibre connection,  but each to their own.

Re: BT Halo 3 (hybrid connect now included ? )

Short version: SNAFU

Long Version: I suspect that's just yet another BT cockup.

If I go to upgrades on MyBT, the only options are Halo 3 or Halo 3 with Complete WiFi, no mention of Halo 3+. This makes sense as I have no EE signal indoors, so Hybrid Connect shouldn't be available to me. However, under the benefits of Halo 3 it lists a Keep Connected Promise using Hybrid Connect. But if you scroll down the page to Hardware, Hybrid Connect is listed as only being available with Halo3+.

My conclusion is that the Infinite Monkey method adopted by BT to maintain it's web site has inadvertently described the Keep Connected Promise as being provided by Hybrid Connect, when it should be a 4G Mini Hub. That is only sent out after a failure & must be returned when service is restored.

Re: BT Halo 3 (hybrid connect now included ? )

Yes it's all very confusing it definitely says "under more info" keep connected promise with hybrid connect.

I asked 2 different people by DM on twitter and they said it is a hybrid and I stated halo 3 not 3+.

Anyway I phoned up in the end as in the checkout process it said I would be sent a 4g mini hub in the event of an issue. They said it's definitely not a hybrid with halo 3. I asked why it says this under more info and it's confusing they just say it's a mistake. They have definitely changed the wording recently.

I've now ordered the full fibre 500 with halo 3 on the website and will cancel the hybrid, but it seems there is no way in my account to cancel this ?

Re: BT Halo 3 (hybrid connect now included ? )

I just rung bt to cancel my hybrid connect I was told this cannot be cancelled yet as I have an open order for the fibre upgrade ordered last night.

I don't understand as the hybrid connect was an optional extra/add on I was paying the extra £7 a month on top of the full fibre 100.

I have been told I will have to wait until after the upgrade on 9th Jan. Makes no sense as this is an oppitional extra and nothing to do with the new order either ?

Re: BT Halo 3 (hybrid connect now included ? )

I think it's just a BT thing where only one open order can exist at a time, & cancelling the Hybrid would raise a second order. I guess you could cancel the upgrade, then cancel the Hybrid & then re-order the upgrade. But for the sake of potentially saving a couple of quid, I'd be inclined to just wait for the upgrade to complete & then cancel the Hybrid.

Always assuming that the Hybrid hasn't now become part of a new contract with the upgrade!

I was told when I added the hybrid its a monthly thing and can be cancelled anytime otherwise I wouldn't of taken it. There was nothing in my new contract about it either I read it.

What you are told and what is reality are sadly often conflicting in the BT multiverse.

Re: BT Halo 3 (hybrid connect now included ? )

This thread has helped me decide not to change anything. I had an email regarding one of my 2 BT accounts today about something including Halo 3 (I have Halo 1 currently) which appears cheaper although the small print seems to involve quite a steep price rise in March of CPI plus about 3.6% and it would mean going back into a 2 year contract (I am currently out of contract) and it says nothing about my all important landline and charges for that. So I am going to leave well alone particularly as supposedly Digital Voice is about to reach London (never mind hopefully some kind of fibre to the premises fairly soon).

Under learn more about BT halo it does say "we also now have hybrid connect"  but when you go further down and click on what's the connected promise it still states it's a mini hub which will be sent if a fault is reported.

My upgrade is due to be done on Monday, I just hope they do allow me to cancel the hybrid after that ?
