BTTV cancellation and automatic broadband renewal

Today I cancelled my BTTV as I don’t use it, and once I received the email to confirm cancellation and I noticed that BT had renewed my Broadband contract for another 24 months, without my permission.

Im extremely annoyed as my contract ends in February and I want the choice to move providers I I want to.

how can BT renew my contract without asking me? That can’t be legal or ethical. I feel like cancelling the whole package.

Re: BTTV cancellation and automatic broadband renewal

@Rads1

When did you start your BT TV contract, as that would have renewed your broadband for 24 months?

This is just a customer to customer help forum, everyone here, including myself, are just customers.

The only BT Employees are the forum moderators, who may offer to help.

Try calling 0330 1234 150

You can message BT using the "message us" links on the help pages. That is usually effective.

Re: BTTV cancellation and automatic broadband renewal

I received an email stating my BTTV was ending soon and asked if I would like to renew. I don’t use it, so cancelled it.

My BT broadband was up for renewal in Feb 25.

Re: BTTV cancellation and automatic broadband renewal

When did your BT TV contract start?

Have you recently received a replacement BT TV box?

Take a look at your recent orders, on MyBT.

Re: BTTV cancellation and automatic broadband renewal

My BTTV contract had ended. It was about to start on a rolling contract.

No I had not received a new box.

I’ve not ordered anything.

BT automatically renewed my broadband once I had confirmed I did not need BTTV, and without my authority.

Re: BTTV cancellation and automatic broadband renewal

You have a cooling off period of 14 days at the start of any new contract to cancel.

BT may have treated it as a change to your contract, you will have to contact them.
