Hi,
I am aware that if you place an order for broadband only, then an existing landline on the property becomes defunct. I live in an annex on my landlord's property - is there a way to get broadband to the annex without affecting their landline?
For context, the landlord's existing broadband barely reaches us over WiFi and has average speeds of 750kb/s, but upgrading isn't an option.
Thanks for any input.
Welcome to this user forum for BT Retail phone and broadband customers.
Unless the annex has a separate address then its not possible to order your own connection.
Assuming your landlord is a BT Retail customer, could you run an Ethernet cable from a port on the BT Home Hub, to the annex, and use that, as it would be much faster.
You can just order your own service from another supplier, just make sure they are fully aware that it is a second service to the property and not a takeover of an existing service.
I would have thought it was also possible to order a second service from BT
The problem is that it would be tied to the landlord`s address, and correspondence would go there, which could cause problems. There is a high possibility of it going wrong.
As will any other correspondence the OP receives.
