Broadband price

Hi- I am very frustrated that as a loyal customer that my broadband has increased to £65.01 per month, but as a new customer I can get the same package for £40.99 or £37.99 with EE. If I switch to EE now it would be £72 per month? My contract runs until March 2026 and been informed that if I want to cancel I would be charged £207 cancellation fee. This practice of ripping loyal customers off is disgusting. Vodafone and SKY both offer similar packages for £29 per month. In March I will not be renewing my contract with BT. Appalling customer service and respect for loyal customers. I have tried to ring, but there is always a 30 + minute wait. I encourage all BT customers to review their current package price as other providers are much cheaper and have better customer service

Re: Broadband price

Are you comparing like for like , often on here people complaining about new customer prices don’t include extras they are paying for that are not on a basic plan , a call plan ( £5-£20 potentially) , whole home WiFi (WiFi extenders ) , and unbreakable WiFi (4G device that takes over if landline goes down ) or any combination of these can easily add £20-£30 a month ….if you have any of these but don’t need them , then it wasn’t wise to take them in the first place , but you can’t simply compare a bare service price to what you pay if you do take any of them….

Re: Broadband price

I’m an existing customer and my price has gone up in line with what they said it would , my minimum term expires not much before yours (so I took out my 24 month term slightly before you  did  ) I have broadband F2 (80Mb) and telephone on PAYG and don’t pay anything like you.
My original deal was around £30 and is now roundabout £34, so I doubt very much you have simply broadband (unless FTTP and 500/900Mb )

Re: Broadband price

I have exactly the same package as @iniltous and I am paying the same price of £34.

I can and will be "upgrading" to Broadband only FTTP 500 for £31.98 on a 24 month contract.

Re: Broadband price

I have 900mb and no extras for £65. Same price for new BT customer is £40.99 and new EE customer is £37.99 for 900mb.

Vodaphone are offering 500mb for £27 and 24 month contract

Re: Broadband price

Makes you wonder why they are (still) offering me £64.72 for FTTP 150 then.  Must be the price I paid for being out of contract for a few years.

Re: Broadband price

@Phil1969

You are paying the price that you were "happy" to pay when you took your Fixed Term Contract out so BT are not ripping you off on this contract.

Because you are still in that contract with 8 months still to run BT are under no obligation and with no incentive to offer you a better deal than you are presently on. Why would they.

You can not leave that contract without early termination fees which will be about the same as the amount you will pay until the end of the contract which again is something you agreed to when you took out the contract. That is basically what a contract is for. BT want to get their money over the term of the contract just as you would expect to get the broadband speeds etc over the term of the contract that BT agreed to when the contract started.

You can not fairly compare your price with the price for a new customers at this time because you took out your contract over a year ago. The prices then for a new customer must have been good for you because you probably looked around for the best deal and then you took out a contract with BT.

The time to compare ISP prices is about a month before the end of your Fixed Term Contract which is when you may find a better deal with BT and if not that is the time to change ISP as there will be no cancellation fees.

Also when you get nearer the end of you contract your "personal" deals will come down in price.

EDIT:

I have just ordered the FTTP 500 broadband package which was showing in my "personal" deals in MyBT for £31.98 on 2 year contract starting early Sept 2025. My "old" contract was due for renewal in November 2025.

Re: Broadband price

No, they don't.

Current price they were charging me was £68.95 for Fibre Halo 1 + phone and no other extras.   If I go back into contract for FTTP 150 + PAYG phone, no Halo etc., £67.72

The 500 package did get cheaper for me. That must be why the call them "personal" deals.
