Can't take a lower broadband package after email sent saying contract is ending.

I was sent an email informing that my contract is soon to run out. Two "upgrades" were suggested but these don't suit me. I have been paying for Halo for quite a few years, but on reflection, this package is costing way too much for no real benefit. We don't use the land phone anymore. The ordinary BT Essentials is the package that comes up if I want to buy a package without renewal relevant to my address (£29.99 compared with renewal for Halo and phone £51.99). I spoke to a 'guide' at EE about taking up EE Broadband at £29.99 and was told this couldn't be done as I wasn't a new customer. It could be done if my wife applied for the "downgrade" as she would be a new customer. It seems BT/EE wants to 'trap' me into a package that is beyond my needs. I have been with BT/EE for years. It seems I can go to Sky and get a £29 deal including enhanced wifi. 9 days and counting.

Phone retensions and if they can't help you move to Sky.

Why spend time & energy pleading with a business not to rip you off? You've given them the opportunity to retain your custom & they've told you where to go.

You've found a better offer, just take it. If you make use of a cashback site you'll make an even bigger saving.
