Changing from BT Halo 3+ 900 to BT Full Fibre 900 - what do I need to know?

Hi,

I am changing from Changing from BT Halo 3+ 900 to BT Full Fibre 900.

I have some questions:

I have been asked to return the Wi-Fi Disc and the Hybrid Connect. I never setup or used the Hybrid Connect.
I am using the Wi-Fi Disc.

It says that the cost of the Wi-Fi Disc is £30 (if not returned).
1. So, one option is to pay the £30 and keep using the Wi-Fi disc as before?

I read that a new disc costs like £100, so it would seem best to just keep it.
2. Does the Wi-Fi disc work when using BT Full Fibre 900?

3. I was told that the hub will not change, I am to keep the same hub (BT Smart Hub 2) when changing from BT Halo 3+ to BT Full Fibre 900, correct?

4. Will the SSID or WiFi password or WiFi network name change when changing from one package to the other? (i.e. in this case from Halo 3+ 900 to BT Full Fibre 900. I am expecting things to stay the same, right?

5. I have not been asked to return the digital phone device. Does that mean that BT Full Fibre also includes a phone and that's why they don't ask for the phone to be returned?

Any other information I need to be aware of?

The reason I am changing is that the price difference is almost £30 and since I never used the Hybric Connect, it would seem that the "extras" that Halo 3+ 900 includes are not of any use to me, since I only really need the fastest broadband.

Halo 3+ is just the addition of the hybrid connect device, nothing else.

Everything will stay exactly the same as now except you won't have the hybrid connect facility, which for full fibre is pretty much pointless anyway.

Thanks, apparently I will loose the digital phone / phone though.

Also, they are wanting to charge me £2 more than new customers for the same specs.

I.e new clients £44.99 vs I would pay £46.99 / month.

That seems bad considering I have been a loyal Halo 3+ 900 customer for years.

You only lose the phone if you elect to do so, it has absolutely nothing to do with Halo of any flavour.

It's your choice whether to keep it or not

"Also, they are wanting to charge me £2 more than new customers for the same specs."

BT always attempts to charge existing customers more than new ones, and Halo was invented for that purpose!
A £2.00 addition over what new customers pay is actually much lower than a typical differential - I would grab it!

I am paying £49 just for Halo 3 Fibre with a download speed of 75mbs. Pricing seems to be haphazard and down to horsetrading tactics. You seem to have a good deal.

As stated Halo3+ is a benefits package , there is no difference between the broadband connection that you have and the one you replacing it with ,it’s the add on benefits that are the difference, you are losing the Halo 3+ benefits, which are the ‘unbreakable’ element, a 4G mobile backup that cuts automatically should your ‘landline’ broadband fail , whole home WiFi , so devices provided to ensure WiFi availability in every room , double ‘data’ on BT/EE mobile plans , and in home support and a home visit annually by ‘experts’ for any issues with setup etc….obviously these are benefits that some will find very useful and others will not really benefit from …if the router can provide adequate WiFi over the entire home , the landline connection is never faulty  , and you don’t use BT/EE for mobile or already have unlimited or an adequate data allowance, then Halo 3+ may be an unnecessary expense, that seems to be the community view.
