Death of Account Holder

My father has an account with BT for his phone line however unfortunately he passed away back in Nov 2023. The family used the Tell Once service to inform all relevant companies of his passing but this has not seemed to work as getting multiple letter from companies still. One of those letters was from BT chasing payment which we recently found when clearing the property.

I have tried to call BT  on 0330 1234 150 but get caught in an endless loop of not being the account holder or constantly diverted to a payment line to pay what is outstanding (bit ruthless considering the circumstances).

All I want to do is speak to someone to advise them of the issue and look for a resolution. Does anyone have any suggestions on how a can talk to someone to explain the situation?

The irony is that I am trying to talk to someone from a company how make it so hard to physically do this and once had the slogan - "It's good to talk!!". As you can tell getting a bit frustrated with all of this.

Re: Death of Account Holder

The Tell Once service only works for Government Organisations not Private ones such as BT.

Have you tried calling the BT Bereavment Dept
