My sister(1) is the account holder for BT Landline only
While my other sister(2) is the account holder for sky broadband (standard not fibre) that connects via the BT line.
So there is diferent suppliers and different names for BB and landline at the same address.
When phonelines go digital the BT landline would need BB but that is with sky.
sister(2) wants to have the Landline and BB together in her name
1) if she decided to upgrade sky to fibre to include landline could the number be kept and ported over by sky thus cancelling the BT account for landline?
2) If she decided to open a new account with BT for BB and landline could the number be kept and ported to her new account? and would BT also close the old Landline account and sky BB account automatically?
3) or if she decided to go with a supplier other than BT or sky the same questions?
When the time comes you'll need to make a decision, BT's 'Digital Voice' and Sky's 'Internet Talk' will both use the broadband connection, you'll need to choose your provider.
Sister 1 has the line only - she can add broadband and switch to Digital Voice, as the number is already with BT you will be able to retain the same number.
Sister 2 has broadband - she would need to add 'Internet Talk' to the existing account and request Sky port the number from sister 1, porting is never guaranteed and would be down to Sky to action this.
