I closed all my BT services 7 months ago. 6 months ago, I received a threatening letter for unpaid bills, so I called and BT apologised and said I'd receive a final bill soon. I've just checked the account, and it's still open and the "charge" is greater than before.
Any tips on getting BT to actually bill me correctly and avoiding a default on my credit file?
Yes, I could take time off work to call them and ask them again to repay what BT owes me when I closed the account, but that hasn't worked the last 3 times.

Hi @KJF and welcome to our community.
Thanks for posting. I'm sorry you're still being billed after the account has been ceased. I can help with this. I'll need a few details so check your inbox for my message and drop me over a reply. Just a heads up, we're really busy at present so it's taking longer than expected to reply but once you send over the details we'll get to you in turn.
Cheers
David
Hi @KJF,
Thank you for allowing me to look into all of this for you.
I am happy that I was able to go back over your previous bills and credit back what you were entitled to. It's great that the credit has been received back to you too.
Take care and have a great day.
Thank you

Please solve this for me today. When my mother moved into a care home I initially tried to transfer her account. After many fruitless hours queuing or explaining and having to start again every time they always said they would phone me back then check my number, a different one every time and never the one I had given them. Eventually in desperation I cancelled the account. This started in August 2023. I am still getting a bill every month with £2.47 in credit. I have written, returned the bill tried to chat, without success . I refuse to go back on the phone this is where it all started and wasted hours of my life.
