How to rectify a credit report

Hi all, I have a problem, and without going to the A-team, I'm hoping you can help.

I moved house a year ago and had a broadband account for which i didn't recieve any email to confirm or account details. (it sounds complicated, as this was a second broadband account for an outbuilding we had). We moved last year and i didn't know the account was still live and we recieved no communications from BT about it, non emails, nothing and then i checked my credit score, and apparently we defaulted on it. This is really impacting my ability to buy a house. It was for £62 only. Soon as I found out i paid  it.

How can I get BT to show its paid on my credit file?

Your credit file should of updated once the payment was made, the default should now show as settled but will still be recorded as being paid late.
