Is it possible to enter into a 12 month contract?

Hello,

My fibre contract is due to end in late September. I'm looking to minimise cost, for the reasons most people are, and am ditching BT Sport. I rang to discuss this and although I'm not entirely unhappy with the 'reduced' price of £25.99 per month for a fibre package/landline only, I do balk at entering into a 24 month contract. Ideally I'd go for 12 months, at a push 18, but my employment is tenuous at present and likely to get more uncertain.

Other companies seem to offer 18 month contracts and Rupert Murdoch's Evil Sky subsiduary, NowTV, do a 12 month contract at £21 per month. I'd hate to line Sky's pockets and I fear the carnage of switching suppliers but a £4.99 monthly difference and shorter contract mean a lot to me at the moment.

Anyone been able to negotiate a shorter contract or have any other comments to make?

Many thanks.

Hi @charlespw, check out Information about your BT contract | BT Help It does say 'Most of our contracts are 24 months, but we do have some that are 18.'

Cheers
