Migrating to EE not as good as New Customer deals

I have been advised by BT that if I transfer to EE and take anything below the EE 900mb service I have to keep my BT router and continue with WIFI5 however new EE customers, even on the 150Mb offering, get WIFI6.  Is this correct?

Re: Migrating to EE not as good as New Customer deals

I don't know about having to keep your BT Smart Hub, although it is true if you have a BT TV Pro Box they won't send you the EE version (as they are fundamentally the same under the hood).

What I do know is that if I pretend to be a new customer to EE, I get the Smart Hub Plus which is WiFi 6 even on my lowly 60Mbps FTTC connection.

So there could be some truth in it, but this is BT so the truth is in the eye of the beholder. I'm pretty sure others on this forum have moved and got new kit on FTTP.

Exactly my thought.  Let EE pull you as customer rather than other way around.
