Military discount/ blue light discount for broadband

Hello, I have had numerous issues with this, and no one seems to be providing me with a solution. I rang 3 times and have been promised a call back (even when I have booked a slot), but no one has got back to me. I have a Defence discount card and a Blue Light Card ( I work in the military), and saw the offer from BT to get exclusive offers on the broadband package. When I went through the app and clicked on the affiliate link, and inputted my postcode, the website told me that no services can be provided in my area. I live in a small town. So I then called up and I explained this to the person on the phone, they offered the EE broadband and said it was the same thing. I also explained the military discount and emailed the person proof of my ID and what the military discount states (offers on BT broadband). I was told I was going to receive a discount, but had to purchase first and wait for the box to arrive. Only when it was switched on could they change the price. So after the box arrived, I called up again and was told to wait for my first bill to be generated, and I was promised a call back after spending 1 hour on the phone. But I get no call despite getting a link to book a time for a call. My bill has arrived- without the discount, so I call again. I am on the phone for over an hour, and they say they haven't heard of this discount and can only raise a complaint, but not give any discount because they hadn't heard of it! I am so frustrated - I keep going round in circles and spend 1-2 hours on the phone just for someone to talk to their managers, keep me on hold, then promise a call back or a solution at a later date.

I have attached the screenshot of the military discount. I know I am entitled to it, but I cannot seem to access it, and I do not know what to do. The customer service and my experience with talking on the phone have been terrible and a waste of my time.

Re: Military discount/ blue light discount for broadband

@hcara13

Looking at the Defence Discount card in App and on looking at the 'offers' for BT, it's a bit vague to be honest. The EE discount is there and is upfront with pricing but has to be done online by the looks of it.

Reading your post, it's after the horse has bolted stuff as it appears you have taken out a contract with EE? but it would probably have been more financially savvy to have used TopCashback for a greater discount. There appear to be some excellent cashback deals with BT and if I were up for renewal, that's undoubtedly the route I'd have taken.

Please be careful firing off military ID to anyone via email or by any other means to utility companies, you have no idea just where your personal information is ending up. It's generally not recommended to display details of the Defence Discount Scheme as it might lead to abuse of the scheme. I apologise if that comes across as patronising, it isn't meant to.

Remember, you have a 14 day cooling off period on the contract. If this turns out to be a poor deal, you can back out as long as you're still in the cooling off period.
