Moving house with PROVIDE open order

Go to solution

I am moving house so tried to complete the form online to do this, I was met with an error that due to an open PROVIDE order on my account this couldn't be done until 7 days after my move date.

I rang and spoke to a representative and, whilst they were very helpful, their hands were tied and all they could offer me was a 30 day rolling temporary WiFi at £35 and a £6.98 delivery fee. Given that BT gave me no notice of carrying out work that would mean I can't make changes to my account, and this is through absolutely no fault of my own, it seems ridiculous that I'm out of pocket to ensure we have a continued internet connection when we move house.

I understand if the system is setup so that no changes can be made whilst work is being carried out, but I would have expected BT to provide the temporary access free of charge, or be able to credit my account with the amount I'm out of pocket if there's some strange interaction with it being provided by EE.

Hi @Erdertus

Welcome to the community.

I can understand your frustration at the delay in having the connection ready for when you move you to your new home, and then being told that there would be a further charge to have the mobile WiFi connection in the meantime.

We don't have access to your account here to look at what options there are for you, but if you are not happy with what has been offered, you can get back in touch with our customer service guides to discuss it further and have a complaint logged and escalated if needed.

There is more on how a complaint would be handled on our complaints code of practice.
