It looks like you're another victim of misplaced loyalty.
If you're on a rolling contract then leave immediately, if contracted then bide your time then strike.
All the major isp's operators offer a one touch service where in effect you don't have to left a finger.
Read recently a son was going through his late father's financial affairs and discovered he was paying BT ridiculously high bills to BT, so expect no sympathy from them for your plight.
£80 a month for 30mb is very very dear as said above.
I was with BT well over 20 years for internet and over 40 years for phone but phone used to be in dads name and ended up moving to Sky well over 2 years ago and im paying £32 a month for 68mb FTTC.
Even my sister moved to Sky just under 3 months ago is paying £35 a month for 300mb full FTTP.
Thanks folks very enlightening
yes as mentioned that is far too expensive for the speeds you are getting.
Lots of people are coming to the end of their contract and looking at alternatives, myself included.
BT/EE is a very good service and reliability can not be beaten, however they generally are 30% more expensive and of course always bundle on extras that you do not need.
for ref I am on BT fibre 900 and only paying £60 a month, other services are approx 30-40 pounds
@mattyjoyce71 To be fair, Plusnet are equally reliable in my experience of being with them twice now. I flip flop between BT and PN at the end of each contract if one or the other refuses to give me pricing reflective of what new customers are getting. I’d have stayed with BT myself but they had weeks before my contract ended to offer me a decent renewal price but didn’t. Indeed the only time they wanted to speak to me, was when I initiated OTS.
Generally, I think it’s down to customer apathy when it comes to end of contract on broadband. People just don’t seem to want to be bothered until eventually the stark reality of paying £80 plus a month hits them years after they could have done something about it.
Yes I think you're spot on. Thanks for the colour.
The only problem with Plusnet is that, (I believe), they don't do a phone service now.
@WSH You are indeed correct. I suspect in part, because there are now apparently far less customers who require a landline telephone service than those that do wish to maintain a landline.
