Re: Damaged Credit Score due to BT Fault!

Hello,

I have had the same issue with a damaged credit score due to a duplication of my BT accounts and being double charged. I had BT sport through sky linked to my email address and bank account and was also being charged by BT directly - when the TNT sports changeover happened I was charged twice for a couple of months. I then cancelled one of my direct debits and continued to pay for TNT sports every month.

I then received letters from BT saying my bill was outstanding despite continuing to pay for my account (I have the bank records that prove that). My debt was passed to a collector which I have now paid off to simply avoid any further issues. My credit score has now been hammered because BT allowed two accounts on the same details to be charged separately.

I would like to speak to someone about this to remove the default on my credit score.

Thanks

@parkerf92

This is just a customer to customer help forum, everyone here, including myself, are just customers.

The only BT Employees are the forum moderators.

The first thing you need to do is raise a dispute with either Equifax, Experian etc, depending on who the debt is with. You can do that at

  • Online at www.equifax.co.uk/ask
  • Call 0800 014 2955
  • Address – Equifax Ltd
    • Customer Service Centre
    • PO Box 10036
    • Leicester
    • LE3 4FS

or

  • Online at www.experian.co.uk
  • Call 0344 481 8000
  • Address - Experian Headquarters Talbot House
    • Talbot Street
    • Nottingham
    • N80 1TH

Or

  • Online at www.transunion.co.uk
  • Call 0330 024 7574
  • Address - Consumer Services Team
    • TransUnion
    • PO Box 647
    • Unit 4
    • Hull
    • HU9 9QZ

They'll then liaise with BT for you.
