Why do you want to return it?
If faulty then fair enough but if you had it before 13/12/2019 then it's yours to keep and do what you want with. I certainly wouldn't return it in this case.
And if it was before the date above then ignore any Customer Service staff saying you must return it as they're wrong.
The reason I post this is because some friends of mine fell into this date trap & then had to spend out £200 to get a new recorder when they stopped their BT TV subscription.
