Tip for anyone seamingly stuck in the Halo scam……when my contract was due to end I took out a completely new one as a brand new customer on line, just said that I didn’t have a current provider, chose the deal I actually wanted and had called bt about for weeks before contract ending but not getting anywhere. A few days later I called bt and enquired why I had a go live date of a couple of weeks when I’m already with them and have all the equipment already. Pretended I was just trying to renew…..”silly me I seem to have taken out a new contract”! They moved the “new” contract over to one that had ended. Now £70 a month better off, you view box is mine because I had it before 2020 and it works as it always has…..pretty badly but useable for recording and the WiFi disc costs a one off £50……they charge £10 a month to have it officially in contract for 24 months! backed up by a pointless halo guarantee of nothing.
Lying about your previous contract details is actually fraud, especially that there's a difference in price for a new contract if you're a new customer or an existing one. Just like with insurance policies, it can also invalidate your contract. For some reason, sone people don't see such contracts as legally binding, which they are. Admitting on a public forum to lying, and especially one linked to your contract, is idiotic.
Ok for BT to lie then?
How is it fraud to take out a contract with a service provider when your out of contract you idiot!
clearly your linked to BT in some way……
To clarify BT let the contract end by not letting me renew and downgrade.
making **bleep** up about not being able to cancel the “entertainment “ at the moment and saying they’d call me back.
they are a shambles……bring back Busby!
Once again to annoy all the BT people monitoring this…….
if your you view box was delivered before 2020 , you own it and it will work perfectly fine if you want to keep it.
the WiFi disc extender works perfectly without paying monthly for the privilege , £50 charge to keep it or get one off eBay.
Halo 3 is totally pointless just like extended warranties and other upselling nonsense
Yeah hardly a ground breaking revelation
But to add to your points
CEX also sell the discs along side the more modern youview box (pro box)
And as you and several hundred before you have pointed out they all work perfectly without a subscription

If you were not in a contract you would not have BT broadband. It would have ceased on the day your Fixed Term Contract ended.
When your Fixed Term Contract ends your contract becomes a 30 day rolling contract as is laid out in BT's Terms and Conditions so perhaps instead of being derogatory to other members of the forum you should read what you have signed up to and how it works.
