Re: Salesman moved me to EE without my permission.

Exact same situation that I experienced.

Have you invoked the cooling off period and returned unwanted equipment back?

Re: Salesman moved me to EE without my permission.

Hi @eddiegee   Thanks for getting in touch and sorry to hear you've had the same problem.

The cooling off period was mentioned in my call today which lasts until 24th. I thought the cooling off period was if I changed my mind about a purchase I made. In this case I've purchased nothing.
The five boxes they sent are here and untouched and I really think it's down to them to arrange return of these unsolicited items.

Interested to know how you got on with your case and is it resolved?

Regards

Re: Salesman moved me to EE without my permission.

Hi, my issues are somewhat ongoing but I am no longer a customer of BT/EE (and highly unlikely to be at any point in the future I might add).

When you return the equipment, I would strongly recommend that you take photo/video evidence of everything being returned, including serial numbers etc. Keep a record of proof of postage and once confirmed as being delivered, then proactively give them a call to confirm they are content all has been received and closed down at their end.  If you don’t, it could result in a surprise email from a debt recovery agency (feel free to check my post for insight). Worst case I know, but unfortunately I am in that exact position through absolutely no wrong doing of my own.

Online research indicates that BT/EE cross-checking of returns is not always as it should be.

Hope that helps a little - thanks.

Re: Salesman moved me to EE without my permission.

Also really interested to hear if your revert back to BT connection is successful or not.

After my ‘mis-selling’ to EE situation, I invoked the new EE cooling off period but could not revert back to my old BT service.

I was then left without any broadband supply whatsoever, nor was I informed that would happen. So, inadvertently and completely unintended, I had escaped being in contract with BT (and for a considerable amount of time as well).

With regards to being missold a move to EE, it wasn’t the fact there was a price increase, as there wasn’t - the issue I took exception to was being re-contracted to a new contract length that withdrew my existing scheduled options to review the landscape.

Ironic how a once very satisfied, long term BT customer was missold to and was then quickly lost. Although, as across many service industries (telecoms, energy, insurance) they will likely not be bothered as for every customer lost, a new one is gained.

Re: Salesman moved me to EE without my permission.

The latest is my BT landline was dead this morning. Yes they had transferred me to digital so after complaining again to BT I had no choice but to install the EE router and Home Phone Adapter to get the landline back.. It all works but this was not what I ordered in fact I'd ordered nothing. They have now started the revert process although what that means is not yet clear. I have also raised an official complaint which has been acknowledged so waiting to see on that. Can't let them get away with this shoddy behaviour.
