Switch from BT to EE

Hi quick question. I've just called BT (or so I thought!) to renew my contract. I've got Broadband and TV package with BT. When I got a call back it was from an EE "Guide" and I've just renewed with EE. I just wanted to see if others have done the same recently and is the new norm and BT does not provide the services anymore? It's a good deal and I'm probably overthinking it but wanted to get others opinions. Thanks.

You can renew with BT and not necessary to move to EE  sounds like CS rep wanted to move you to EE so they can collect bonus. Did you get a good deal?

Hi yes, the deal was good but whenever I mentioned BT he just glossed over the subject, to be honest it all felt a bit pressured but at the end of the day the deal was good and it looks like they are one and the same with what I need. Just a bit frustrating that he was no help with being able to access my BT account which is what I would have used to upgrade!

What I found was that I lost access to free Norton security. EE charge £6 a month.

The call centre are seemingly incentivized to sell EE broadband 

You have two weeks cooling off

BT broadband is alive and kicking 

Do your homework and see if BT can offer a better deal

In contrast, I’ve just ‘upgraded’ to FTTP with BT from BT FTTC , I’d had emails saying it was available, offers in ‘My BT’ and a missed call from BT on my EE mobile , that  was once a BT mobile.

The second call from BT I answered , and TBH I needed no convincing to take FTTP , I took an upgrade in speed to 150Mb for the same price I’m paying for 80 Mb FTTC (I’m close to the cabinet and get 80Mb) , in fact 500Mb was very little more , but unnecessary in my case , the only new commitment is a 24month minimum, but I’m only 10 months into my existing minimum anyway .

I had  no pressure to move to EE at all , in fact EE were not even mentioned as an option , so the supposed sales incentive to switch you to EE isn’t necessarily the case (certainly wasn’t with the guide I had ) , the corporate push to get BT consumers onto EE may have gone , the retail push towards EE may or may not be a thing , perhaps some have not read the memo , but my experience demonstrates it’s not always the case that EE is pushed onto BT customers.

I also went from FTTC to FTTP 900. Don’t need that speed at all but it was the only deal that popped  up and it was £4  pm cheaper than I was paying. (didn’t know they would have to dig up the pavement though) No pressure to move to EE but to the point, all text that came through were headed EE so obviously the same CS.
