Taking over existing broadband on property seeamlessly?

Go to solution

I'm buying a house that will be used as a holiday let most of the year.
It has an existing BT broadband, which I need to take over seamlessly as guests will be staying during the change of ownership, and free WiFi is part of the deal for guests.

How do I enable this to happen with regards to contacting BT?

@alexmc

You would need to place an order with BT for broadband.

https://www.bt.com/products/broadband/deals

That will initiate a Working Line Takeover, and the existing owners would be told that someone wants to takeover their line.

Provided they do not stop the takeover, or cancel their service, then it should happen on the day that you request.

You need check that there is spare broadband capacity at the new house, as the existing connection will be ceased, and a new port will be allocated.

Use the address checker on the page below, and post the results for your new house, but edit out your address details first.

This would be classed as business usage and against the terms for a residential service, you'd also be liable for any misuse of your guests.
BT Business can be contacted on 0800 800 152
