Re: Trying to get a better deal (BT, G.Fast Fibre 100)

There is an article about the problem here. Seems that even alternative ISP options are rapidly closing off: https://www.ispreview.co.uk/index.php/2023/10/the-misery-of-diminishing-choice-in-g-fast-uk-broadban...

Thanks Colin. Interesting article which just confirms what I have found myself. TT’s offer is much cheaper than I’m paying so I might consider that. Interestingly the blue rope used to pull through new fibre cable is showing at the base of our street pole but it has been there for months. At least I don’t have to renew until November so there is time for things to change.

We have been on Gfast for years started off on 330Meg and now down to 170Meg. The price has gone up to £66.93 which I think is far to much for what we get. Our contract ends in April and we are sick of waiting for Fttp so we have decided to go with a Smarty sim card £20 a month unlimited with a 1 month contract and cancel our hugely overpriced BT contract. We already have the 5G up and running with download speeds around the same as Gfast (sometimes more sometimes a little less). You will need a router for the sim which we got used from Ebay for £80. We put our 5G router as high in our loft as possible and run the network cable down to where the BT hub was and it works really well.

@NamesDean

Are you responding to anyone in particular? (the thread was last contributed to 2 years ago), or is your post just for information purposes?

Just information for anyone like myself that is sick and fed up of waiting for fttp, and paying double for the privilege of GFast.
