Unable to cancel Xbox gamepass subscription

I was given an xbox gamepass code as a gift and now it looks like I can't cancel it as it says it's tied to a bt/ee account. I'm not a BT customer.

Looks like its related to this story https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-68085437 and someone is being billed incorrectly.

I have the code I used. How do I report this to BT to sort out?

This is really quite concerning - can BT assure people who have 'Free' XBox Game Pass offers on their accounts that they will be safe from third parties activating passes against their accounts?

It really sounds like BT need to withdraw this offer and prevent activations until they know what has happened.
