What's my number?

So, back in July, i call BT to see if i can find a way to reduce our phone bill and get talked in to a new package with EE - big mistake. The new router is ugly, for a start, and made my broadband slower, buffering Netflix whenever i tried to watch a programme. Worst of all, the router was incompatible with my old phone so i had to find a new one.

Problem solved?

Not by a long chalk. I'd only set out on a road full of angst and frustration as the customer service informed me i'd have to wait a month for the new service with Openreach to take affect and my broadband to resume normal service. No phone at all now.

End of August i finally set up the new router which restores my BB service but now i need a compatible cable to fit the answer machine of the new phone to the back of it. More waiting. Finally sorted a couple of weeks later...nobody calls. I wonder why? Try to make an order online and get the verification page from my bank but no phone call to confirm it's me making the payment. Curious.

After much back and forth with the tech crew at BT, they send an engineer who can't find a fault on the line, despite being told the system had been flagged for such a case...more angst as the verification call still won't come through. Then, suddenly! a **bleep** of light as i'm told the bank uses a mobile to send the code and i've had trouble calling our landline from my mobile - are the two events connected?

Yes!

So i ask again and Customer Service tells me my number has changed.

Really? First time i'm hearing this has happened.

Apparently the number changed when my service went to EE and back again to Openreach but nobody saw fit to inform me by e-mail, or snail-mail. Not even a smoke signal.

Now i've got to phone round to inform everyone of the change and inform the bank.

Thanks BT.

Merry xmas.

Re: What's my number?

@Corporal_Clegg

Welcome to this user forum for BT Residential phone and broadband customers.

If  you are now an EE customer, you need to post on the EE forum https://community.ee.co.uk/

EE are a separate company within the BT Group.

Re: What's my number?

This is just a customer to customer help forum, nobody here can help with this issue, your post here does not go to BT or EE. The BT or EE forum moderators do not have account access, so cannot look into your issue.

You would be best to raise a complaint with either EE or BT, whichever company your bill comes from.
