changing call plan after unexpected bill

hi as it seem many others when i upgraded my broadband i didn't fully understand that if i changed to pay as you go i was going to be billed all my voip calls as it mentioned the if you lose wifi no emergency contact etc ..

so i assumed that it meant it wasnt using the old copper line so wasnt in use .. seems after reading stuff here  i was wrong ..
anyway my question is can i change back to the 700 min contract i used to have or am i stuck ?

ive tried the links but all the offer is international call add ons

Re: changing call plan after unexpected bill

PAYG stands for Pay as you go, which bills you per call with no inclusive minutes.
The 700 minute calling plan is no longer sold, your options are remaining on PAYG if you use an hours calls per month or unlimited minutes, the reason an hour is important is the PAYG rate is 26.12p per minute.

26.12 x 60 minutes = £15.67 which is around the cost of the unlimited minutes plan

Re: changing call plan after unexpected bill

It looks like BT have dropped the 700 minutes, which has been mentioned in a post, and only offer “PayAs You Go” or “Unlimited Minutes”. When I logged and started to change my calling plan this is what was offered:

Calling Plan Add-ons Monthly

 Pay As You Go
  • This calling plan gives you access to make and receive calls on your home phone.
  • Each call costs a set amount per minute, whether it's to a UK landline number or a UK mobile, day or night.
£3.00
 Unlimited Minutes

Make unlimited calls to any UK landline number or UK mobile, day or night.

Learn More

£14.00
 Unlimited Minutes

Make unlimited calls to any UK landline number or UK mobile, day or night.

£11.00

Why they have 2 unlimited options at different prices, but who’s going to choice the £14 one when the £11 was the default.

Re: changing call plan after unexpected bill

If you go to:

MyBT > Your Products > Landline > Manage > Upgrade

You should be given a price (or two!) for Anytim Calls. For me it's £14 & £11 which I believe is a cockup but has been stated to mean £14 normal price, discounted to £11.

Re: changing call plan after unexpected bill

thanks for that,
i dont seem to have landline in the 'your products'  listing

i do have digital voice there
that has a change call plan option if i select that im offered 2 plans ..

friends and family international   £2.63
and
international freedom         £11.23
and if i go to the bottom of the previous page where it mentions landline and i try to change the call plan from there i end up back at the page saying the same as above

so im still a little confused

Re: changing call plan after unexpected bill

Apologies, had no idea DV was separated out from Landline. Hopefully one of the guys already on DV will chip in.

Might be worth checking your order to see if it's closed. I know sometimes lingering orders can prevent changes.

Re: changing call plan after unexpected bill

BT pay and go at £3 a month is a joke . As some others have pay and go calls at no cost a month just the price of a call for landline.

Can see why some people dont use there landline to make calls as unlimited calls are included in there mobile package and sometimes work out cheaper than taking a call package from the likes of BT.

I myself have not had a phone plugged in to the landline in the last 5 or 6 months and have since been moved  over to internet calls but I not used the service so far.

If I want to make a call and thats not often I will use my mobile and the sim only deal I on is not much cheaper then the BT unlimited minutes. Plus I get 60gb data a month with unlimited minutes.
