Re: landline

if you have bt broadband then you need to have a line as otherwise you would not get broadband to work applies whether copper of fibre connection.  you can get broadband only without ability to make/receive calls and that may save you £3/5 pm + any cost of a call package you have

Re: landline

If you have recently joined or recontracted with BT ( so the last few years  ) then you pay for broadband and that can be a standalone service, if you take a telephone calls package then that’s shown on the bill as a calls package, not landline .

What is it you think you shouldn’t have to pay for ? , as stated if you have a telephone calls package but  don’t  want a phone service at all  ( that also means getting rid of your  phone number , so no incoming calls as well as not being able to make outgoing calls , including 999 type calls ) , then you purchase or switch to a broadband only service, that will save the cost of the calls package .

As you haven’t stated what calls package you have , obviously we can’t know what you would save , if you have  PAYG calls , then the saving typically will be £2-£5 a month ( depending on what price you negotiated  at the time for PAYG )  , it shows this on your bill
