new customer!. How long it takes to get connected with current router/modem setup

Go to solution

hi there. i'm currently thinking of signing up with BT but how long would it take for BT to get me connected with broadband? I know it to be within 2 weeks but that also included Bt having to send me it's hardware to get plugged in. what i want to know is if i would to use my current modem/router, would that speed up the process of having to wait 2 weeks. like Bt could just send me the username and password, than i just enter it into my modem/router. would that work out?

@vinhbuddha

Its would not make any difference because BT send out the BT Home hub, in advance of any service activation. The two week delay is due to the fact that Openreach have to provide the network connection. Once that is done, the rest is normally handled automatically.

The sending of the smart hub 2 is probably the easiest thing for them to do.

The order needs to be fulfilled by multiple parties, if required notification to existing provider and authorisation by them and there's then the various systems to be updated ect...

Also if you require an engineer visit for example moving to full fibre as part of the order this needs to be booked and confirmed with Openreach too.
