Fibre with halo 3

Hi I have fibre with halo 3 I am due a up grade one of my up grades was keep my package I have already get complete wifi to add a disc can I do this on fibre with halo 3 as I tried to do my up grade online but wouldn't do it through it most be for full fibre package

@EHP64  Do you actually need Halo3? It’s an oft reported complaint on the forum that it is an expensive add on that is difficult to exit from. Some customers probably don’t even realise just how much extra it is costing them over a standard non Halo package.

When you say "fibre", is that part-fibre (FTTC/VDSL) or full-fibre (FTTP)?  If the latter, Halo is even more useless than with part-fibre.  It's an expensive ornament.  I would get rid if I were you.

No one here but you knows how much you’re forking out every month, but bear in mind, new customers to ISP’s can, where available, get 900mbps FTTP broadband for between £26 and £32 a month. 

We’ve read absolute shockers on here of folks blindly paying 3 or 4 times that amount monthly for Halo because they just keep accepting the annual increases. I guess though, some have deep pockets and don’t care.

Most people don't understand what the speeds mean.  In fact, even full HD TV only needs about 5Mb/s, provided it's stable.  If the TV is buffering, it's probably another problem rather than just low speeds.

The very best you'll get on part fibre is 80Mb/s.  (And then you'll need to be right next to the street cabinet).  The only way you'll get higher speeds is with full fibre.  Even then,  I 'd be careful about them selling you much higher speeds if I were you.  150Mb/s is enough for most people and once it's fast enough any extra will just sit there unused.

With FTTC (part fibre) your speed is determined by the laws of physics, these are immutable.

@EHP64  You are going to have to sit down and take a moment to work out just where you’re going with Halo. If Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) is available in your area now, it might be worth upgrading from Fibre to the Cabinet (FTTC) to FTTP. It might also work out cheaper if you migrate to EE without all the Halo guff. You’ll arguably get a better router switching to EE as well. There’s no compulsion to switch to EE, you can simply refuse, bear in mind though that you will in all likelihood be charged the newly introduced £30 ‘connection’ fee.

As @WSH  has pointed out, you might not even need speeds above 150mbps. I’m on 500mbps FTTP with a partner that works from home and over 30 devices connected via WiFI and it’s more than adequate and I’m paying far less than you are, admittedly without a landline or any TV package guff.

I should also point out, that if you are currently already within a 24 month contract and not on the 30 day rolling contract, there would also in all likelihood be an early termination charge if you were to migrate. You’d have to check.
