Norton Security

Hi,

I have followed the instructions and links on my pc to switch from McAfee to Norton. As part of the download process Previous protection had to be removed. Norton successfully installed but when I click on activate I get a cannot connect to server message. This happens repeatedly. I have looked through the forum and followed all the advice. I notice that it has been suggested that it needs to be the account holder and I am the account holder. All other advice followed both on screen and from forum. I restarted PC and now Norton will no longer load. Currently running windows 10. I am concerned that now having uninstalled previous protection i am now without anything. Are there any other suggestions? It installed and activated fine on mobile.

Re: Norton Security

Just to put your mind at rest.

If you are using a Windows system the on board Microsoft Windows anti virus system will have activated automatically if it has detected that there is no antivirus program active on your computer so you will have AV protection until such times as you manage to get Norton installed.

See link how to turn it on if it does not automatically start.

Scan an item with Windows Security (microsoft.com)

Personally I would not bother installing Norton and just use the Microsoft Antivirus which "just works" without all the grief that Norton and previously McAfee seems to cause but that is of course your choice.

Re: Norton Security

Hi thanks for the reply. However since installation of Norton the icons for Windows defender etc have a red cross on them and will not open/run. Thanks though

Re: Norton Security

Did you read the link I posted. It shows you how to turn on Microsoft AV via "Settings" or by clicking on the link in the page.
