At the weekend I watched a bit of Prime via the New EE Pro box on Fibre 500. The quality was just appalling but so was the show. Tonight I put Prime on to watch the football. The quality was akin to 3rd generation VHS.
I switched to the Prime app on the LG TV. The picture quality is excellent.
What is happening. Is the box faulty or have I missed a setting that will "magic" the picture quality?
EDIT
Additional info. The Prime app on the EEbox is on a relay. Is it being re-encoded? Just compared at half time and on the EE box 30 secs behind the App on the TV.

Re: Amazon Prime on New Pro Box
Hi @DigitalDave
Not noticed any obvious picture quality issues on Prime Video on Box Pro personally although didn't watch the football on that device this week.

Re: Amazon Prime on New Pro Box
I watched a bit of both matches on the Pro box via Prime Video last night and found that it was absolutely fine. I have previously subscribed to Premier Sports via Prime Video and found it to be unwatchable as I believe it is restricted to 25 fps.

Re: Amazon Prime on New Pro Box
The difficulty i have with using the Box Pro Prime video app for watching live sport is that it doesn't allow pause/rewind/FastForward of the live stream. The Prime video app does allow those functions on other devices so invariably i choose to watch on another device.
Does anyone know if the Box Mini prime video app offers this functionality ?

Re: Amazon Prime on New Pro Box
Hi @zulu17
I have checked this for you and believe this would be the same as the TV Box Pro.
The Amazon Prime Video help page advises 'Rewind, pause and fast forward are available on Android/iOS Mobile, Web (Chrome, FireFox, Edge), Fire TV, Apple TV (Gen 3) & selected Smart TVs. Use Watch from beginning play buttons on the detail page or in player to watch from start'
Thanks 🙂
Leanne.

Re: Amazon Prime on New Pro Box
I took another look at my original comparison between the Prime app on the Pro box and from the LG TV.
For context, Fibre 500 upgrade 3 weeks ago, hence new Pro box. Box set up for 4K. Catch-up channels and TNT sports seem fine.
The same cannot be said for Prime.
On the LG TV the Prime app is fine but on the Pro box it's very poor and I'm being very polite 😇

Re: Amazon Prime on New Pro Box
@DigitalDave Do you have a second Tv that you could easily temporarily connect your box Pro to and see its the prime Video stream is also poor quality when viewed on a different TV ?

Re: Amazon Prime on New Pro Box
As an aside I had a quick go with the Prime Video on Box Pro for the RB Leipzig v Aston Villa match tonight and whilst the picture and audio was good as expected the app didn’t perform correctly twice before I gave up. All I was doing was opting to switch back and forth , between the Stadium Effects and English commentary streams , sometime it handled it correctly other times it didn’t ..

This sort of got put on the back burner but last week I revisited the issue...two months on.🫢🫣🤐
The reason I had flagged PRIME was because I could do a direct comparison ie Box v app on LG TV
Whilst my Freesat 4k box has its own HDMI input, the TV box, DVD/BDR player and VHS/DVD recorder went through an HDMI switch.
Although I experimented with the supplied cables on a direct input, I took a punt on some new 4k@60 cables from Amazon. They were actually rated at 8k@120 . On a direct input the improved picture quality was quite noticeable from all TV box outputs. Last week, the new 4k@60 HDMI switch arrived. The picture quality was maintained.
In conclusion quality was being lost by cable spec as well as the switch box.
