@Midnight_Voice Thank you for writing such a thorough answer, you've made a very complex topic much less daunting and easier to understand, your input is very much appreciated! I have ordered a HDMI to SCART converter which should arrive on Thursday, so hopefully I will have the box up and running then, thanks again for taking the time to write such a detailed reply.

@Midnight_Voice Hello, I just wanted to message you once more to say thank you so much for your advice, I managed to set up the new BT box today, thanks to you! Without your input, I would not have made any progress at all, I'm so grateful to you. I used the HDMI to SCART converter and also set the picture quality to 1080p, and everything is working perfectly. It's such a huge relief to see how content my father is, now that he is able to watch the television again. Thank you again for taking the time to write such a detailed response!
