BT Pro Box - using iPhone WiFi Hotspot?

Hi there, I have a BT Pro (YouView) box, and want to use my iPhone's hotspot for the wifi.

The box can "see" my home wifi, but can't see my phone when I know the hotspot is working and can be seen by other devices?

Any ideas?

(RE why I want to do this, I take the box away with me in my caravan, and want to use the streaming/rewind while out and about).

Re: BT Pro Box - using iPhone WiFi Hotspot?

The Pro Box only has 5GHz, no idea what the iPhone transmits on as a hotspot but I would think 2.4GHz is more likely.

Also in my experience, before I lost the will to live & hard wired, it only works on the basic 5GHz channels & not the higher bands. I did start a thread on it but it received little input.

Re: BT Pro Box - using iPhone WiFi Hotspot?

I suspect I have the answer to this, from another pinned post

"Your TV Box Pro only uses a 5Ghz wi-fi channel and it will automatically connect to the right one (your Smart Hub can use both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz wi-fi channels)"

Guessing iPhone isn't 5Ghz. Will have to resort to my old TP-Link WRW802N travel router, that picks up my phones hotspot and has a LAN socket which will do (used that on my older non Pro YouView box.

Re: BT Pro Box - using iPhone WiFi Hotspot?

Think I was typing my reply at the same time as you! Thanks. Now need to google, or search the forum for how to programme it to turn TV on and off and volume.

Seems a much faster box in terms of EPG compared to the old DTR-T2100 box.
