BT Pro box remote does not switch my Panasonic TV off/on

Dear  The Enlightened

Just set up my new BT Pro Box and therefore 'upgraded' to the new remote that came with this new Pro Box.

However, I cannot set it to switch off & on my Panasonic TV --> It turns the Pro Box off, but not the TV -> the TV times itself out after 3 minutes following "No signal" message.  A longer press on the "BT" button on the remote does switch both Pro Box + TV off, but I still have to use my separate TV remote to turn my TV back on when I turn my Pro Box on?!

My last (and just replaced BT 4K box) had both a Box and a TV button --> The new Pro Box remote only has single button.

I have ensured that Bluetooth setting on "TV".  I have reset my Pro Box remote with 'Home + 9' action.  I have switch both off and restarted.  All to no avail ...

Am I sentenced to a double remote existence?  If so - Can I go back and utilise my old remote with separate Box + TV buttons?

Can anyone enlighten me?

Advice will be very gratefully received & Appreciated.  THANKS

Re: BT Pro box remote does not switch my Panasonic TV off/on

The good-ish news is that the old remote should work as before, with the added bonus of a "stop" button that's missing from the new one.

With the new remote TV control is achieved over HDMI rather than by infrared. Might be worth trying both another HDMI cable & another HDMI port on the TV. Not sure if it's necessary but also see if CEC control is turned on in the TV menu. I think Panasonic call it Viera Link.

Re: BT Pro box remote does not switch my Panasonic TV off/on

THANKS  rbz5416

CEC control was turned on - so also switched on "CEC Autopower" -> Still same as before.

* Changed the HDMI cable, but kept same HDMI port --> This has seemed to work --> 3 second press of "BT" button turns both Pro Box + TV off.  And it turns back on without need for TV remote.

So far so good.

Not sure why this should have worked? --> Replaced HDMI was decent and newly inserted HDMI cable did not appear any more sophisticated.  Hey - I will take this enlightenment on board regardless of whether I understand it or not.  Thank goodness for The Insightful.

Very much appreciate the sage advice.

Re: BT Pro box remote does not switch my Panasonic TV off/on

CEC is a flaky protocol that seems to rely on wind direction as much as anything else. You may well find that swapping the HDMI cable back results in it still working, or that the current one will stop. But as it's only switching then hopefully it will continue to work. 🤞

Re: BT Pro box remote does not switch my Panasonic TV off/on

I find the power button on the Box Pro is a little touchy with the tv.

Sometimes the TV goes off on a quick press of the BT button when I just want to put the BT box to sleep.

Other times the tv main not come on when I switch the BT box on.

Other devices don't have this issue.
