It will not record, I can manually start recordings and the light does turn red indicating the box is recording, but no recording is saved. I can pause and rewind live TV, so the hard disk must be working.
It shuts itself down occasionally (almost as if the power was turned off completely) and when this happens it can take several hours before I'm able to start it back up again. I suspect here there is some sort of thermal protection that is shutting down the box and preventing startup until it has cooled down.
This box is actually a replacement box for a previous T4000 that had issues recording. They don't seem to be very reliable.
Thermal protection was my first thought too, so the obvious question is - where do you keep your TV box? It shouldn't have anything on top of it, and should have adequate ventilation around it. If you still have an EE TV subscription then you're welcome to give us a call to request another replacement.
