Bbciplayer issue

Twice I've had issues when once I sign in to the bbciplayer app on my EETV it often will have issues like not logging on and returning to the menu, last night on BBCONE and BBCTWO via the normal channels they would load but would have a black rectangular box covering part of the screen.

How I get round this issue is by switching off the pro box at the wall then once it has restarted the issue has gone, so this shows it's a tv box problem rather than the router hub as I tried rebooting the hub first of all but I it didn't help.

Any ideas why I have to do this?

@sea2dog

We’ve had a couple of times recently when the iPlayer has errored - big BBC error report - on our LG TV, and going to the Box Pro to watch it was fine.

Hasn't happened since a recent router reboot, though.

@Midnight_Voice

I never have an issue on my phone, only when viewed on my LG tv via my EE-TV Box Pro via my EE router.

Of course I doubt I'd have this issue if my TV box was hard wired to my router, instead I get my TV via WiFi, and I chose this option because my small OTN box is in another room which is quite a distance and I refuse to pay to have it removed.

Re: Bbciplayer issue

Hey @sea2dog, welcome back to the Community.

If you haven't already, can you please check to make sure that both the box itself, and the apps as well, are fully up to date?

You can find this by going to Settings > Software information, and here there are options for both 'Update software' and 'Update players and apps'

@Peter_W

As @DarrenDev has confirmed, ‘Update Players and Apps’ doesn’t do anything, though pleas to YouView to remove it have fallen on deaf ears.

‘Update software’ alone now does everything possible.

Re: Bbciplayer issue

@Midnight_Voice I wonder whether  Youview have retained the "update players and apps" as it may still have a purpose or use on some of the legacy (Humax/Huawei/etc)  boxes. With it  serving no purpose for EETV  then EETV documentation and support notes could/should be updated to remove an unnecessary action.
